He wanted to show all else that God had caused - sordid and sensual, the human conditions, anger, jealousy, revelry, desire. He wanted his viewers to drown in them, in their sickly rawness, in how real they were. He wanted them to feel as if their very souls were painted on the canvases that stared back at them, unapologetic. He didn’t want praise, he wanted people’s lives to change once they looked at his work, and never revert back to how they used to be. His power could influence anyone. Oh, there was so much he could bring to Florence, to Italy, to the entire world.

If I could, I'd immortalise you in the stars, but I'll have to settle for words and paint.
